Before you begin any workout it's important to properly warm up and stretch. This can help to prevent muscle injuries. Below is a general stretch routine targeting the major muscle groups of your body. Of course, it is always important to focus more on the part of your body you are preparing to exercise.

Stretches should be held for a minimum of 30 seconds. You should not feel pain, only stretch, and don't bounce at the end for an extra stretch as this can lead to injury.

Pull arm across your body, felt at back of shoulder
Raise arm overhead, pull arm over and down with other hand
With arms out to side, walk into corner, felt in chest
Front knee bent, back knee straight, lean into wall, keep heels on ground, felt on back of lower leg
Bend knee behind body, use support for balance, felt on front of thigh
Lying flat, pull knee into chest, felt on back of leg
Grab behind knee, pull to straight up and straighten knee
Pull knee to opposite side, keep back flat, felt on back of hip
